Strathtongue Old Manse
Tongue : Sutherland : Scotland

Set on the far North Coast of Scotland in the County of Sutherland, Britain's least populated area, this is the heart of Mackay country. The Manse is set in attractive woodland at the foot of Watch Hill which is the second most northerly mountain on the British mainland.

The Manse was once a Church of Scotland minister's house. Built in 1847, it has been fully and sympathetically restored by the present owners. The Manse lies behind the old Strathtongue Church (now also owned by us) and is approached by its own drive from the main road. Our location is peaceful and secluded and visitors are welcome to enjoy our extensive and colourful gardens.
We are 3 miles east of Tongue village conveniently situated on the Tongue to Thurso road (A836) close to the hamlet of Coldbackie. This is traditional crofting country and is an ideal place from which to explore the rugged and remote countryside of the Northern Highlands with it's spectacular mountain and coastal scenery.
